Media Portfolio blog post #13

For today's post my partner Juan and I are going to pick a special font for our opening credits, and film title. We wanted to model our fonts kind of after the film raging bull, however we would not use the same red color as they did in Raging Bull as if we used it in our film there would be no symbolic purpose, or true meaning. The shape of the font however is interesting and is one of the options we plan on exploring.

To further explore more font options my partner and I did what everyone else would do, hop on Google. We found a very interesting website called HIPFonts which displayed many common fonts that are used in sports related films/sports dramas. One font that instantly stood out to me was called "Scout- Athletic Type face" the font was both engaging, eye catching, and instantly gives off a sporty vibe. The only concern with this font is that the design looks a little bit animated and kind of unrealistic, which is the opposite of what we are going for, we want the film to look as realistic as possible.

The second font which we have identified as very interesting and engaging is called TX Manifesto the font was used in a very successful sports film called Creed 3, which is the newest version of the legendary series. The font is both striking, realistic, and sporty. Since the scene is about a character struggling while training the style and color of the font would have to match with the overall feeling that the film opening creates. We would use basic colors mostly black and white, or maybe grey on black to fill in the given font. Such colors also have a high contrast ratio making them more visible, and far easier to read. Moreover, the majority of sports films have their credits in black and white. That being said, we are open to trying other ideas, such as chrome colors, or maybe even a striking gold. We would also like to have our title play at the begging, with a bland maybe black background, but have our key character credits (Actors, director, cinematographer), play at the beginning part of the scene, as our fighter is initially getting ready, stretching, and getting out of his car. We feel that by doing the credits in such a manner we can keep the audience engaged while also displaying the title and the credits, in a visually interactive manner.
